A 60-day journey circling the Australian Coast is being halted days after the fatal incident of an older woman who was stranded by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back several hours later after the crew became aware the passenger was missing.

An extensive rescue mission located her body the following day.

Authorities are investigating the tragedy, alongside law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Head of the voyage organizer announced that travelers and crew on the ship were informed that the rest of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be provided a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the individuals via private aircraft".
