Liz Truss, launched the inaugural episode of her YouTube show with a pledge to unmask "the evil-doers" attempting to weaken Britain, the US and Europe. She explained she would uncover how an "international network of liberal activists operate to weaken popular rule and the electorate's mandate."

"Our focus will be on the political movement of Donald Trump and understand how it can be accomplished in Britain," Truss declared. "We will interview the leading lights of the Make America Great Again campaign."

Before the program's debut, there was a notably ardent backer. "This is the beginning of a kind of transformation," said John Solomon. His conservative Just the News will host the Truss's new audio shows.

Building Connections in the Conservative Media Landscape

Compatriot supporters, such as a counselor supportive of Reform, have also helped her set up the Truss's program. Its staging is competent, though simple. The show has attracted a subscriber base of 10k in her debut week and her premiere had 67,000 views across the same period.

This represents a small opening, but in aligning with the journalist, she is being entering a mature political media sphere generating and disseminating pro-Trump narratives. Its obsessions include alleged censorship by the traditional news outlets and a goal to dismantle a conspiratorial 'deep state' – which Truss blames for the abrupt termination of her disastrous time in office.

"Just the News is not famous outside of the pro-Trump media sphere, but it does have influence there, largely because of Solomon, who provides analysis on Maga platforms like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even interviewed Donald Trump," commented an anthropology expert, who has analyzed the Maga movement.

A Controversial Partner

Her effort to transplant the pro-Trump media model to the United Kingdom has aligned her more closely to controversial figures such as Solomon.

He founded his media outlet following scrutiny following accusations of pushing inaccurate reports about the President's actions in the Ukraine, as well as disputed reports about ex-ambassador to that country.

These allegations were repeated throughout the pro-Trump outlets, with Solomon serving as a common interviewee on the widely-watched Fox News program. The former president personally boosted his stories.

Solomon made the reports about Ukraine in a series of columns for the outlet the Hill, where he had already been re-labelled as a columnist following internal criticism over his articles. These reports were central in Trump's demand for the officials in Kyiv to probe the Bidens in 2019. This pressure resulted in impeachment charges against Trump. Senators later voted to acquit the then-president.

Weeks after the journalist departed the newspaper in October 2019, the publication revealed it was conducting a examination of his work concerning Ukrainian matters. It concluded Solomon had relied on untrustworthy contacts and noted he "omitted crucial information about main Ukrainian informants, specifically the fact that they had been indicted or were being probed."

Entering the Ecosystem

His TV and radio guest spots are a sign of the right-wing media network Liz Truss is entering. He talked about his backing of the program on a program he presents on Real America's Voice, a rightwing cable channel that is the base for the pro-Trump commentator former adviser Steve Bannon and on which commentator Tucker Carlson also is seen. Truss has already spoken with Bannon on an early episode.

In linking up with this media figure, the former leader has become a niche participant in a broader ecosystem of right-wing publications that frequently share and promote one another's material.

The journalist's broadcasts have often featured individuals such as commentator Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose criticism of USAID was used by the X owner as justification for closing the foreign aid agency.

A Cross-Border Foray

While Truss's stilted style and professional woes have drawn derision in Britain, certain American analysts are taking seriously her attempts to revamp her image as a local version of the pro-Trump media ecosystem.

"One must regard folks like that with seriousness, although you may not want to take them literally," said a former Biden White House aide, who was employed in the Obama White House.

"It was evident how in 2024 President Trump used that ecosystem to disseminate his views. Undoubtedly that ecosystem exports and influences debate overseas. It appears fairly obvious to me that the conditions in the United Kingdom are akin to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to thrive here."

a political theory expert, said the digital right-wing media sphere was already making its presence felt in the UK.

"Online platforms transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There's a kind atmosphere within which ideas travel – sometimes manifesting in radical ways and other times more moderately – but which is connected."

The academic said the growth of the digital conservative movement in the UK lately meant the "potential to have a increasing influence is substantial."
